Spring 2016

With Christmas now a distance memory, the days drawing out and with Easter on the horizon, it is starting to feel like Spring at the Community Centre. So why not get out of the house and come along and enjoy the many delights of the Community Centre has to offer?

There are the excellent Connect Coffee mornings, every Wednesday. They are attended by a really wide mix of people, who enjoy a chat, reading the papers or just partaking of the tea and toast that is available.  Maybe you prefer an interesting, informative talk.  If that is the case, why not come along to the Good News Coffee Mornings on the first Tuesday of the month. Alternatively, if it is a good Hollywood blockbuster that you are after, please try our monthly film club on the second Tuesday of the month. Or, if you just fancy a knit and natter, why not try the Knit and Natter group on the first and third Wednesday afternoons of each month.  Full details of these and other events can be found in the “Dates for your diary” section of this magazine.

It was on 29th March 2011 that Dame Lorna Muirhead DBE declared Christ Church Community Centre open.  Over the last five very hectic years, we have served thousands of cups of tea and coffee, held hundreds of events for the local community, supported many different charities with their fund raising efforts and helped many children celebrate their birthdays with their friends.  These are just a few of the many exciting activities that have taken place in the Community Centre over that time.  So, I would like to thank everyone who helped raise the money to build the Community Centre or has helped support the Centre since it opened its doors.  Without your commitment, none of this would have been possible.  So let’s see what a difference we can make over the next five years!
